Team Associated RC10B6.2D Team Kit - 90024



Introduction:

   Introduced by Team Associated in 2020, the RC10B6.2D Team Kit - # 90024 - was developed for low traction tracks and came with a number of upgrades, including a Layback and Laydown transmission assembly, for even more adjustment options. A 7.4V LiPo or 6.6V LiFe Battery, Charger, Radio System, Brushless Motor, ESC, Steering Servo, Wheels and Tires had to purchased separately.

   In this series of articles I will endeavour to provide information to help identify any of the 1/10 Scale RC10 2WD series and where it sits along its evolutionary trail. With this knowledge, any RC10 owner should be able to decide if their model is just one of the many thousands that were produced, or is potentially a collectors "holy grail".


2018 RC10B6.2D Team Kit


   The RC10B6.2D Team Kit is based on a shortened hard anodised alloy plate chassis, with a ball differential, lay-down and lay-back stealth gearboxes, coil spring over oil filled threaded dampers, CVA drive-shafts, turnbuckles and a full set of ball bearings.

  • New symmetric 73mm rear arms with improved geometry and stiffness can be flipped to allow an in-between rear shock mounting position
  • New rear hub assembly with modular vertical ball stud camber link mount and axle height adjustment
  • Bolt-on +1 steering block arms for improved steering response
  • New body design with lower center of mass
  • Clear body and wing included
  • New front wing mount and front wing included
  • Outer rear hinge pins captured with bolt head and lock nut for increased durability
  • Updated left side rail with motor fan mount (fan not included)
  • 67mm CVA bones for reduced bone plunge and minimized friction at drive pin
  • 13g aluminum chassis weight included for improved mass balance and easy electronics removal
  • 7mm aluminum clamping wheel hexes

Hints, Tips and Information

Anti Squat

   Described as the angle at which the suspension arms pivot in relation to the chassis, Anti Squat affects traction under acceleration.

   Considered to be at its most effective from a standing start, the handling and stability of the majority of modern day On Road and an increasing number of Off Road models, can be improved with a certain amount of anti squat, normally no more than around 3 degrees.

   Basically, more anti squat gives you more traction, but after a certain point, that advantage is lost and the car will become unstable when turning into high speed corners. For Off Road models anti squat can also improve how the car handles on bumpy tracks.

Hints, Tips and Information

Ride Height

   To allow the suspension on any RC model to do its work properly, it needs to ride in a position where it is able to react to any bumps and holes it may encounter on the track. Therefore, it needs to be adjusted to somewhere in-between those limits. That position is commonly termed "ground clearance" or "ride height" and is generally measured as the distance between the underside of the chassis and the ground, with the motor and battery etc installed.

   Simply speaking, determining the optimum ride height is dependent on the specific track conditions and "droop" setting (see my previous article). For Off Road models the rule is simple, the bigger the bumps and the deeper the holes, the higher the ride height. And for On Road, the lower the ride height, the better.
