Tamiya Vajra - 58497
|
Released by Tamiya on September 14, 2011, the Vajra racing truck seems to be one of those models that divides opinion amongst Tamiya enthusiasts. Some love it, others say it is an expensive oddity that does not deliver anything like its perceived potential.
The 4WD, shaft driven, double deck chassis for the Vajra, was based on the Avante 2011 Chassis (#58489), with a 15mm longer wheelbase, made from 2mm carbon fibre and provides a durable, rigid structure that employs two pressure plate ball differentials, four wheel double wishbone suspension and coil spring over oil filled shock absorbers. A full set of 26 steel shielded ball bearings, CVD drive shafts, GT-Tuned 25T brushed motor and V-pattern block tires with 5 spoke chromed wheels are also included in the kit. Radio equipment, battery, charger and paint for the body shell are required to complete.
Constructing the Varja was not as easy as it might have been. Nimble fingers were needed for the small thrust bearings and although the supplied manual was simple to follow, with its diagrams and step by step instructions, care is required to put the right part in the right place.
To get the best from the Vajra, it needs to be fine tuned to handle jumps under control and has enough grip to hug the corners at high speed, without slipping off the track. Small adjustments can make a Big difference and our simple to understand, step by step procedure, will guide you to the best Set-up for your driving style.

Rubber Tires for RC Models
Rubber Tires ALWAYS should have either soft sponge or rubber inserts. They will not function as they should without them. And if you are totally serious about your racing they should be glued to the rims. How to Mount Rubber Tires onto Wheels/Rims.
Before mounting your Tires, I would recommend talking to the more experienced racers at your local club, concerning what inserts they use. Even the top level racers rely on a bit of local knowledge on tracks they have never raced before. |

Choosing the right Brushless motor for your needs can be a daunting task for those new to Radio Controlled Models. If you have a local club perhaps you could ask some of the more experienced members for their advice, but a little basic knowledge about the subject, so you know what questions to ask is always useful. |
