Traxxas Rustler XL-5 (2006) - 3705 / 3709

Introduced by Traxxas in 2006, the Rustler XL-5 Stadium Truck - # 3705 - came factory assembled RTR, with a choice of four pre-painted ProGraphix Bodyshells, a Titan 12T 550 Motor, "Yellow" XL-5 Forward / Brake / Reverse ESC, TQ AM Radio System and 2.8" All-Star Mirror-Chrome Wheels with Alias rear Tires and front Ribbed Tires. A Battery and Charger to be purchased separately.
A budget version of the new spec RTR Rustler - # 3709 - with a basic rotary mechanical speed controller, was made available in the same year.

The 2WD model is based on a composite chassis, with a gear type differential, coil spring over oil filled dampers, Revo Spec slipper-clutch, universal joint drive-shafts and a full set of ball bearings.
To get the best from the Traxxas Rustler, it needs to be fine tuned, to provide precise steering response and improve grip when cornering, so you don't slide off the track. Choosing a Transmitter
When you first started in RC, you may have purchased a package that came with the car kit, motor, battery, charger, ESC and radio system complete. The transmitter was probably just a basic steer wheel, or stick type, with nothing more than forward, reverse, left, right and simple trim settings to centralise the servo and ESC. |
