Thunder Tiger SSR Rally - Subaru Impreza WRC - 6704-F*
|
Introduced by Thunder Tiger in 2001, the 4WD SSR Rally - Subaru Impreza WRC, was available 90% factory assembled ARTR (no Radio) - TTR 6704-F - or RTR (with a 27Mhz Radio System) - TTR 6704-F4. A pre-painted lexan polycarbonate Bodyshell and a PRO-15BX (P) Pull Start Engine were pre-installed for both versions.
A 2WD version of the SSR Rally - Subaru Impreza WRC was also available - TLR 6709-F21G.
PLEASE NOTE: An F* indicates that the Model code varies in different parts of the world. Any F number shown in this section is simply an example of an actual code number found for this model in my research.
For other Thunder Tiger SSR models, check out our Thunder Tiger Archive.
The 4WD model is shaft driven (removed for the 2WD ver), on an alloy plate chassis, with gear type differentials, coil spring over oil filled dampers, two-speed transmission, rear dogbones and for the 4WD version, front universal joint drive-shafts and dogbone prop-shafts and a full set of ball bearings.
To get the best from the Thunder Tiger SSR, it needs to be fine tuned, to provide precise steering response and improve grip when cornering, so you don't slide off the track. Small changes can make huge advancements and our easy to understand guide will help you to the optimum Set-up for your individual driving style.

Hints, Tips and Information How to Charge Rechargeable Batteries for Peak PerformanceNi-Cad (Nickel Cadmium) Batteries
1/ All Ni-Cad Batteries have to be Discharged soon after use. This is to avoid the dreaded "Memory" effect that on subsequent re-charges can cause a momentary drop in performance during a race. A simple discharger can be made from a car 12v bulb.
Ni-Mh (Nickel Metal Hydride) Batteries
1/ Never charge Ni-Mh batteries at a current higher than 4.5 amps. Although these batteries can give a higher voltage than Ni-Cad Batteries, they are much more sensitive and easy to damage if charged too quickly. |
Hints, Tips and Information
Driving On Road
The basic driving style most commonly used for all forms of on road, tarmac and carpet racing, involves using the full width of the road available, and cutting each apex as tight as possible, whilst keeping complete control of the car on the track. The style, often referred to as "Rounding" looks quite simple to those watching, but to get it right needs good hand eye coordination and lots of practice. |
