1/8 Scale Nitro Rally/Touring Car:
Team Associated RC500 - 5001 / 5002
|
Developed by Team Associated, the RC500 2WD prototype was first introduced in 1981 and the RC500 2WD Suspension Racing Car Kit - # 5001 - was released in 1984. The RC500 4WD Racing Car Kit - # 5002 - came along in 1985 and went on to win numerous ROAR nationals and IFMAR world championships.
Designed by the British World Champion Phil Booth and car designer Dave Preston, the original RC500 is chain driven, on an alloy and FRP plate, double deck chassis, with four wheel independent suspension, coil spring over oil filled dampers, ball differentials and came with a full set of ball bearings.
In 1987 the RC500 was re-designed by Gene Husting and Dana Smeltzer, and was driven by Repete Fusco, to win the 1987 World Championships. The new design is belt driven, on a cut down radio deck chassis, with a new rear end, shock mount and damper configuration.
A Conversion Kit - # 5515 - was also introduced, to convert the RC500 2WD into 4WD.
To race the Team Associated RC500, it must be fine tuned to improve handling, provide responsive steering and give you the grip to cruise around corners at high speed, without slipping off the track. Small adjustments can make a Big difference and our step by step procedure, will guide you to the best Set-up for your individual driving style.

Hints, Tips and Information
Your First Race Meeting
When you finally find a racing club near to where you live, that initial experience of stepping up onto the rostrum and looking down over the track can be very daunting. But soon, as the race starts, adrenaline will kick in and away you go. For the next five minutes, your focus is on nothing but getting your car around each corner, avoiding all the other cars on the track and just getting to the end of the race. |

Hints, Tips and Information
Preparing your New Nitro Engine
1/ New RC Gas Engines need running or "breaking" in before being used competitively. 2 or 3 tanks of fuel are usually enough, but don't over rev the engine and try to keep it cool, below 160 degrees F (71 degrees C) |
